ADHD Medication Continuation at HealthFirst Family Doctors

If you have an existing ADHD diagnosis from a specialist and are stable on your medication, you may be eligible to have your ongoing prescriptions managed at HealthFirst. Dr Priscilla Wong is our authorised continuation prescriber.

What is a continuation prescriber?

Under recent NSW Health reforms (September 2025), eligible GPs are now authorised to continue prescribing ADHD medication that has been initiated and stabilised by a specialist (Psychiatrist or Paediatrician). Continuation prescribers do not diagnose ADHD or start new medications/treatment.

Am I or my child eligible?

To be considered for continuation prescribing with Dr Priscilla, you will need to:

  • Have been diagnosed with ADHD and had your medication initiated by a Registered Australian specialist
  • Be stable on your current dose (meaning your medication and dose have not changed recently and your symptoms are well managed)
  • Be an existing and continuing patient at HealthFirst Family Doctors (scripts will not be provided on the first consultation or if insufficient information is available)
  • Provide a letter from your specialist confirming you meet the criteria for GP continuation under the NSW guidelines

We strongly encourage you to speak with your specialist before transitioning your prescriptions to us. Depending on your circumstances, ongoing specialist involvement may still be recommended or required.

Appointments

A longer consultation is required for ADHD continuation appointments and fees will apply. Please inform our reception team at the time of booking so we can schedule appropriately.

Please note that these consultations must be attended in person. Telehealth is not available for ADHD continuation appointments.
